Skelekinz Rock Star and Bugaboo New Release News

I went a bit die cut crazy on this card! These sizzix stars are brill. Why did it take me so long to use them??? I've coupled them up with the Skelekinz Rock 'Star' from Bugaboo to create a boy card. I made it for the Making it with Meslyn challenge which was to create a boy/teenager easel card. I'm also going to enter it into Charisma's die cut challenge (well I did use 12 of them this time!). I'm also entering it into One Stitch at a Time's challenge which is Say it with Shapes. I guess all the stars on this card make it qualify.

Today also sees a NEW RELEASE over at Bugaboo. There are some Baseball images available. Now I have to admit I struggled with this one as baseball isn't that big a sport over here. It was a challenge but sometimes it's good to be pushed out of your comfort zone. This is what I came up with.

I'm entering this card into a couple of challenges too. The first is for the Digi Doodle Shop challenge and it is Anything goes (well, no excuses there but I have used a digi!) and the second is Stamp Something's Digi Day Challenge.

Please remember that every effort is made to put them up on time but there may be a delay at times. Jodie the owner and artist is a one woman band and I honestly don't know how she manages at times - running Bugaboo, running the family and moving house all at the same time. She is a wonder woman. So basically, if they are not up yet, just keep checking back.

Look who's come out to play again! It's the Bugaboo Cowboy. Isn't he just fantastic?

I wanted to play with the Charisma Challenge this week which is to use Die Cuts. Now, a confession, I've had this stars sizzix dies for a few years and it has barely been used. I thought this challenge would be a brilliant reason to get it out and get it cutting. Well I think It'll be used plenty more again! I really like how these layered stars turned out. I used them on Mellow Moss and Soft Suede cardstock and DSP. The Mellow Moss DSP was from the hostess gift section.

The DSP at the top of the card is just a small piece which was scrap from another project. The stars have also been cut from scrap bits too. This means I can enter it for Digital Tuesday's 'use your scraps' challenge.

The sentiment is from SU, stamped using Chocolate Chip ink so that it is darker and matches all the doodling. I like how the doodling adds to the stars, they looked a bit bare without it.

Rudolph Rides Again

Charisma Cardz this week are asking for Easel Cards for their challenge. It's been ages since I made one and really enjoyed it. Seeing as it was such an open theme, I looked for another challenge to give be a bit of a lead and inspiration for ideas. I went to Christmas Stampin' All Year Round who were asking for 2 Designer Papers.

I used some SU DSP for the large panels in Old Olive and Chocolate Chip (yep, I like these two colours and they are staying too yippeeee). Paired it up with Bugaboo's Rudolph image. 2 Projects, 2 Challenges, 1 SET

And there are bears everywhere!

My first project is for Just Cute Bears - Anything but a Square (with a tag). I've used this round jar and attached a tag to it. I found out that my friend was wearing a Red and Black apron to a BBQ I was going to and so made this jar as a gift (I abandoned the purple one I made the other day and remade it in Red and Black - plus I'd eaten most of the purple sweets anyway and they were good!)

I filled the jar with Red and Black Jelly Beans (red apple and liqorice flavour). I got these from Sugarcane. Apparently they have an online store opening soon. It's great because they have loads of sweets in different colours and you can pick up just the ones you want. Imagine how many mixed packets I'd have to buy to fill the jar with just red and black ones.

The second project is for Charisma Cardz who want Bears on the project. I made a matching notebook - or a BBQ Bible! I've made these before so decided to change it up a bit and add a pen holder to the side.

The image I've used is from the Butterfly Bear range from Bugaboo. And remember, there's 50% off the digis right now so there's no better time to buy. Being a digi means that you can alter the size which is great for making matching gifts.

Monkey Post It Holder

Charisma Cardz are asking this week for creations with TAILS!. Well it had to be the monkey didn't it. The drooping tail is perfect.

Again, no card so to speak but a little Post-It note holder. This was really easy to make, just a couple of scorelines and two snips with the scissors.

The image is from Bugaboo Digi Images and is available right now for HALF PRICE! Go check it out. He was layered onto Kay Miller Digital Paper from the Jungle Boogies set. I used the PNG version which has a transparent background but the image itself is in white, enabling him to be coloured in.

Trying something I've wanted to for a while...

I've been in awe of Jeanie Witmer, or the Spotted Chick, for months now. She is on the Bugaboo Design Team with me and her colouring is fantastic. She really has the knack for layering elements. One of the things she does that has caught my eye is use Kraft as a base card and layering white on top and then colours. It looks so effective and it's something I've wanted to try for ages but never got around to it... until now! I've combined the Kraft and white with Perfect Plum cardstock and papers from Stampin Up. If it wasn't for Jeanie, then I never would have dreamed of putting those colours together.

Not only have I managed to do something I've wanted to try for ages but I've also incorporated a challenge request. Charisma Cards has the theme 'Watch The Birdie' and want you to incorporate a bird on your card. I've used a Jacobean Bird image from Bugaboo. It's very different to my usual style and wasn't sure if I couild pull it off but I really like how it turned out. Hope you do too.

Charisma Cards #14 ~ Thank You

I really do like these new Bugaboo Brat Bugs - they are awesome. I've been playing with layering images as the Bugaboo ones come with transparent backgrounds which makes building scenes easy. I've used a CC Design Digi for the bench and the Bee Boy and Bee Jar are from Bugaboo.
